Transportation Council Seeks Public Input for Long-range Transportation Plan

Poughkeepsie – The Poughkeepsie-Dutchess County Transportation Council (PDCTC) has issued a public survey in support of its new long-range Metropolitan Transportation Plan: Moving Dutchess 2. The 25-year plan, which builds upon 2011’s Moving Dutchess, seeks to identify strategies and recommendations to preserve the existing transportation system and meet future travel demands in Dutchess County. The PDCTC is requesting the public’s input in identifying and prioritizing the county’s transportation needs.

In 2011, the PDCTC issued a survey in support of Moving Dutchess, which fielded more than 450 participants. The survey found that maintaining major roads and improving public transportation were top priorities. Other priorities included improving transportation services for seniors and disabled persons, improving sidewalks, and improving major roads. These results supported subsequent work on road safety assessments, local pedestrian plans, and a transit plan.
