County to Host Two Forums to Discuss Mental Health Services for Children and Adults Forum for children & youth to be held May 2nd, forum for adults set for May 16th Poughkeepsie, NY … The Dutchess County Department of Community & Behavioral Health (DBCH) invites residents to the two upcoming attend public forums in May to discuss mental health services offered in Dutchess County for children and adults. These forums will both be held at 230 North Road in Poughkeepsie from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Registration is not required, and “walk-ins” are welcome. Families, caregivers, and local stakeholders are encouraged to attend and share their input and experiences, as all feedback received at the forums will help shape the County’s 2024 Local Services Plans. The forums dates and topics are as scheduled: Mental Health Services for Children & Youth Tuesday, May 2nd Mental Health Services for Adults Tuesday, May 16th DBCH’s Deputy Commissioner Jean-Marie Niebuhr said, “Mental health is a very important topic which affects many of our residents, those either struggling with their own mental health or assisting a loved one who is. The forums are a great way to provide detailed information about available services as well as hear directly from participants on what is working and what may need improvement. We encourage the public to attend and let us know how we can better assist in their mental health journey as we continue our mission of keeping Dutchess County residents healthy and safe.” Each discussion will include 2022 highlights, proposed changes, guest speakers, information on resources available to local families and how they can access them. In addition, there will be a period for those attending to give input, ask questions regarding services, or have time to share their experiences. For those unable to attend, DBCH welcomes written comments to be read aloud by the forum moderator. Individuals may submit comments online, fax comments to (845) 486-2829, or mail to: DBCH Forum Comments, 230 North Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Comments received after the forum will also be considered in the 2024 Service Plan.
