OXON HILL, MD – A Powerball player in Oxon Hill is $50,000 richer after matching four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball in the Aug. 6 drawing — just one number short of winning the jackpot.
The lucky ticket, purchased at Eastover Liquors located at 4909 Indian Head Highway, marks Maryland’s 18th third-tier Powerball win this year. The winning numbers for the draw were 15, 27, 43, 45, 53, and the Powerball 9.
Jackpot Continues to Grow
No ticket matched all six numbers in the Aug. 6 drawing, sending the jackpot soaring to an estimated $482 million for the next drawing on Saturday, Aug. 9. The cash option for the jackpot is $218.9 million.
Four tickets sold in California, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio matched the first five numbers (without the Powerball), each earning a $1 million second-tier prize.
Claiming the Prize
Winners in Maryland have 182 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes. Because this prize exceeds $25,000, it must be claimed either in person at Maryland Lottery headquarters or by mail.
The Maryland Lottery encourages winners to sign the back of their ticket immediately and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their winnings.
