WASHINGTON, D.C. — A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting of a one-year-old girl in Southeast D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Shooting on Yuma Street
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Monday in the 800 block of Yuma Street, SE. MPD officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered that a one-year-old girl had been struck. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was reported to be conscious and breathing.
Suspects Fled in Jeep Cherokee
Police say multiple individuals exited a black Jeep Cherokee, which was missing a front license plate, and at least one person opened fire. The young girl, officials said, was not the intended target of the shooting.
The suspect vehicle was later found abandoned in Prince George’s County, Maryland, but the shooters remain at large.
