The Village of Brewster Film Festival (VOBFF) will expand to four days of programming this Labor Day weekend

The Village of Brewster Film Festival (VOBFF) will expand to four days of programming this Labor Day weekend, and will include a new venue in Cold Spring. The event, which started as a one evening festival of short films in 2011, has grown each year and is one of the few events in Putnam which includes events on both sides of the County.
Festival chairperson Bob Dumont is excited about the growth.  “It will always be the Village of Brewster Film Festival, and about getting people to come to Brewster and Putnam County to experience something new and different. By adding Cold Spring, we have an attraction that involves the two train towns of Putnam and provides a good reason for people travel east and west.”
The Festival was expanded to accommodate the Cold Spring venue and will now begin on Thursday, September 3rd. Films will be shown in Restoration Chapel, which is on the Hudson and is directly across from the Cold Spring train station. Stacy Dumont, who also chairs the Festival, was very interested in having films shown at the Chapel. “We stumbled upon this jewel last year while wandering around Cold Spring and thought about how great it would be to host a film session on the river.”
“Our Film Festival is very different from most other area film festivals.  There are only a handful that span four or more days and even fewer that screen in multiple places.  And I can guarantee that there is no other Festival which will bring you to such a wide variety of beautiful places,” adds chairperson Judy Brewster. The Festival attracted close to 700 attendees last year and film makers traveled from as far as Brazil, California, Texas and over half a dozen states.
The VOBFF will show films at Chapel Restoration, Bull and Barrel Brew Pub, Empire Cinemas, Southeast Museum, Studio Around the Corner and Ryder Farm.  “I don’t believe there is another festival that screens films in such a wide variety of locations.  We believe the beauty of this County is part of enjoying a great film. Once you are here and travel from a farm to a museum to a historic chapel, you will know why it is different,” continued Bob Dumont.
The Festival runs from September 3rd through September 6th. Some events are free. Film times and tickets to all the events can be booked at VOBFilmFestival.com.
