Since his first assignment for National Geographic Magazine in 1989, Jon Bowermaster has traveled back to Antarctica more than twenty times – most recently with 3D cameras, a first for the continent. It is a huge land covered with ice as thick as three miles, seemingly invulnerable, cold and dark for eight months of the year. Yet Antarctica is also a fragile place, breathtaking and still-pristine, and home to an incredible variety of life along its edges which is constantly changing, every season, every day, every hour, so that in the next 50 to 100 years, these massive changes which will impact the entire planet. Featuring a narration by Tilda Swinton, this stunning 3D exploration begins a 10-20 year tour of museums and science institutions around the globe, revealing the most forbidding and vulnerable continent on Planet Earth. Bowermaster was recently named one of a dozen “Ocean Heroes” by the National Geographic Society.

“Antarctica lives in our dreams as the most remote, the most forbidding continent on Planet Earth. It is a huge land covered with ice as thick as three miles, seemingly invulnerable, cold and dark for eight months of the year.Yet Antarctica is also a fragile place, home to an incredible variety of life along its edges, arguably the most stunning, breathtaking and still-pristine place on earth.”Jon Bowermaster
