Newburgh man arrested for heroin possession in Fishkill

Fishkill, New York – On November 3, 2018, the New York State Police from the Stormville barracks arrested James T. Hayes, age 48, of Newburg, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree with Intent to Sell, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, both class B felonies, Impersonating a Police Officer with intent to Commit a Felony, a class E felony, and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.

On November 3, 2018, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2006 Cadillac DTS on Interstate 84 in the town of Fishkill for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  Investigation by Trooper Reiser and his K9 partner Dunn found Hayes, who attempted to pose as a police officer, was in possession of approximately 53.5 grams of heroin.

Hayes was arraigned before the town of Fishkill Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.  Hayes is next scheduled to appear before the Court on November 7, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.
