Serious Rollover Crash in Rhinebeck Under Investigation

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a serious one-car rollover auto accident which occurred on Middle Road in Rhinebeck at approximately 2:50 pm on 10/18/18.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by James Krinitsky (age 16 of Red Hook) was traveling in a southwesterly direction on Middle Rd near Pitcher Road when the operator lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. As a result, the front passenger, Christopher Knapp (age 16 of Red Hook) suffered serious head injuries and minor injuries were suffered by Mr. Krinitsky and the rear passenger, Louis Lederer (age 15 of Red Hook). All three were initially transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital for treatment, however, Mr. Knapp was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center where he remains at this time.

At this time unsafe speed combined with lack of driving experience appears to be the primary factors in the crash, however, the investigation is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and more information may be released as it becomes available.
