Obituary, Louis Cavuoto

Poughquag – Louis F. Cavuoto, 95, a Dutchess County resident for 23 years and previously of Carmel and Yonkers, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Castle Point.

Born on December 7, 1922, in Mount Vernon, Louis was the son of Louis and Theresa Cavuoto. On April 3, 1948 in Yonkers, Louis married the love of his life Nettie Marie LaMagna who predeceased him on March 23, 2013.

Louis proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II. On June 6, 1944, he was part of the Invasion of Normandy. He then participated, endured, and survived the greatest land battle, The Battle of the Bulge, ever fought and won by the US Army from December 16, 1944, through January 25, 1945. He was a shoe salesman at Hared Shoes in Mount Vernon. He loved to cook and his favorite day was Sunday family dinners.

Survivors include his children, Mary Ann Cavuoto Leenig and her husband Ron of Fishkill, Theresa Girolamo of Wappingers Falls and Michelle Cavuoto of Poughquag; his grandchildren, Michael Muskus, Nicole Sullivan and Michelle Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Ethan and Aidan Sullivan and Addison and Brody Miller.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
