Obituary, Emmie Louise Liebhart Pilch

Pine Plains – Emmie Louise Liebhart Pilch entered eternal rest on October 4, 2018.

Emmie was born on September 25, 1926, in Manhattan, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Liebhart.

Emmie attended school in Rye, NY. She was employed by IBM in Poughkeepsie, Merrill Lynch in White Plains and most recently by Danbury Hospital as a Patient Access Associate.

Emmie was predeceased by her son George H. Pilch on March 22, 2107. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Liebhart and Henry Liebhart.

Emmie is survived by her daughter in law, Judith M. Pilch of New Milford, CT and her daughter and son in law, Kathy J. and Alfred Blackburn of Pine Plains.

Emmie, affectionately known to all as Nanio, had the joy of eight grandchildren.

Brett Porter of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Porter and wife Heather Williams Porter of Red Hook, NY, Christopher Mitchell of Newport News, VA, Nora Therese Wolf and husband James Wolfe of Valatie, NY, Alfred Blackburn and wife Maureen Murray Blackburn of Pine Plains, Jacquelyn Stoliker and husband Shawn Stoliker of Red Hook, Bob Blackburn and his wife Nina Bruneau of Hillsdale, NY and Daniel Blackburn and his wife Caroline Nelson Blackburn of Stanfordville, NY.

Emmie’s life was brightened by her eleven great-grandchildren, Nolan Wolfe, Seamus Wolfe and Trevor Wolfe all of Valatie, NY; Hunter Stoliker and Julia Stoliker of Red Hook, NY; Brianna Blackburn, Michelle Blackburn and Alfred Blackburn of Pine Plains, Benjamin Blackburn of Hillsdale and Hudson Porter and Gemma Porter of Arizona.

Emmie is also survived by her forever friend, Dr. Vito Gesualdi of Bethel, CT. Barbara Dohan and Sumar Fayad were her friends to the end.

Emmie was the last of the Golden Girls. The perpetually fun-loving group of Vivian Smith, Regina Castelli and Kathleen Moore are united again to bring laughter to the saints.

Emmie is also survived by several nieces and nephews including JoAnn and Bob Wolfe of Stanfordville.

Friends are invited and may call on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 4 – 7 PM at  7749 S. Main St. in Pine Plains, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, October 12, 2018, at 11 AM at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Pine Plains with the Rev. Kent Wilson officiating.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Emmie’s family would like to extend their most sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Gardens in Danbury, CT who made the last two months of Emmie’s life filled with love and compassion. We could not have asked for more. The gracious care that Emmie received in the ER of Danbury Hospital and the 11th floor will forever be appreciated by her family.
