Barijana Caldas from Amenia has been named a 2018-2019 junior associate in the CoBE Institute at CCU

CCU’s 2018-2019 cohort of CoBE Institute Associates are undergraduate business students who will participate in business consulting projects.

CONWAY, SC (10/03/2018)– Barijana Caldas, a management major from Amenia, NY, 12501, has been selected as a 2018-2019 junior associate in the CoBE Institute at Coastal Carolina University.

The Community and Business Engagement (CoBE) Institute, housed within the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, is a student-led organization pairing high-achieving undergraduate business students with business consulting projects to give them workplace experience.

Students selected as CoBE Associates receive instruction, mentoring and a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience through participating in real-life business projects, commonly referred to as consulting practicum experience.

Associates work in teams with their fellow associates and faculty advisers on a wide variety of business projects. Associates receive practical experience and sharpen their skills in communication, critical thinking and problem-solving.

Through working on their projects, students will research and work one-on-one with advisers, mentors and experts to produce high-quality solutions for business clients.

New CoBE Associates will be devoted to skill development and research, while more experienced and tenured CoBE Associates will transition into leadership roles, mentoring student teams, and acting as the liaison between teams and clients. At every stage, students will have the guidance of faculty and the CoBE director.

CoBE Associates are paid employees of Coastal Carolina University and work up to 20 hours per week. Students also have the opportunity to take business courses for regular and honors credit toward their degree as part of the program.

CoBE Associates are selected each academic year in the spring semester after submitting a resume and participating in multiple comprehensive interviews. Only high-achieving students who have proven their ability to balance academic studies, work and extracurricular activities will be considered. Applications are welcome from all levels of undergraduate students, though the program prioritizes freshman and first-year students.
