Two men arrested after trying to smuggle drugs into Fishkill Correctional Facility

Fishkill, New York – On September 12, 2018, the New York State Police in conjunction with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations, arrested two men attempting to introduce controlled narcotics into Fishkill Correctional Facility.  Kennard Blount, age 40, of New Windsor, NY, was arrested for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony, Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st degree, a class D felony, and Conspiracy in the 4th degree, a class E felony.  John E. Walden, age 66, of Bronx, NY, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1stdegree, both class D felonies, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7thdegree, a class A misdemeanor.

On September 8, 2018, Investigators from NYS DOCCS OSI contacted the State Police regarding two subjects attempting to introduce contraband into Fishkill Correctional Facility.  An investigation found Walden attempting to introduce 30 dosage units of Suboxone into the facility.  Further investigation determined Blount conspired with Walden, and supplied the controlled substance.

Blount was arraigned before the town of Fishkill Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  Walden was arraigned before the village of Wappingers Falls Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  Both subjects are next scheduled to appear before the town of Fishkill Court on September 17, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.
