Otto Paul Schick

Poughquag – Otto “Paul” Schick of Poughquag, NY, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed in peace Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 at the age of 81.

Paul leaves behind a very close and loving family: his beloved wife of 60 years, the former Jeanette Onorato, whom he married on July 10, 1958 at Sacred Heart Church in Groton, Conn.; his son Jeffrey Schick and his wife Robin; his daughter Lori Schick and her partner Stephen Roulier; his grandchildren Justin, Dylan, and Olivia Schick, Amanda Ahlstrom, and Kaitlyn Schneider; and his brother, Henry Schick.

Born on October 15, 1936 in Ridgewood, NY, to the late Otto and Pauline (Brunner) Schick, Paul graduated in 1954 from Arlington High School and attended Westchester Community College and Marist College before serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960. Since 1962, Paul made Poughquag, NY, his home, where he and Jeanette raised their family and enjoyed their friends. He worked as a senior engineer at IBM in East Fishkill, NY, for 32 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a parishioner of St. Denis Church, Hopewell Junction, NY, and served as the director of St. Denis Cemetery for many years. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and was an avid golfer and skier.

The family thanks all of the staff at The Pines at Poughkeepsie Center, especially his primary care giver, Janet, who provided Paul’s care during his stay there.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 15, at 1:15 p.m. at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY, followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
