Salisbury – Donna Marie Smith, 59, a twenty-four year resident of Salisbury, CT, and a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, from injuries sustained from a fall at work. Her devoted husband and loving daughters were by her side. Donna worked for Ultra Clean Cleaning and Disaster Restoration based in Canaan, CT.
Born May 24, 1959, in Sharon, CT, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Rosemary (Brizzie) Miles. Donna attended schools locally. On July 16, 2006, in Salisbury, CT, she married Robert A. “Chief” Smith, Jr. Mr. Smith survives in Salisbury. Donna enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and trips to the local casinos. She has a great affection for growing house plants and for her devoted companion Oreo. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Donna is survived by two daughters; Heather Ellis of Copake Lake, NY and Nichole Tripp and her longtime companion Brock Race of Dover Plains, NY; three brothers, Michael, Gordon and Ricky Miles and three sisters, Josephine and Deborah Miles and Karen Murnane; four grandchildren, Austin and Joshua Ellis and Tristin and Brytan Ralph and two great-grandchildren, Westley and Guinevere and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018, from 4-7pm at 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral services will take place at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeville Hose Company or the Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
