Obituary, Carl J. Perkins

GRANVILLE — Carl J. Perkins, 81, formerly of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 at the home of his daughter, Selene. M. Wittman, in North Granville following a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 27, 1937, in Crown Point, the last survivor of 7 children to the late Niles Perkins and Ethel (Taylor) Perkins.

Carl and his wife Carolyn R. (Bishop) Perkins were united in marriage on Dec. 24, 1956, and had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary just prior to her death on Feb. 14, 2018.

Besides his parents, and his wife, Carolyn, he was predeceased by three brothers, George, Russell and James Perkins and three sisters, Katherine Rice, Ortha Baker and Dorothy Granger.

Carl was employed for the Pawling Rubber Corporation in Pawling for more than 30 years. Following his retirement, he was a proud greeter at the Walmart Store in Queensbury. He was formerly employed as a farmer, logger, truck driver and salvage yard attendant.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and watching western shows and movies on tv.

Survivors include his children, Michael S. (Christina) Perkins of Caroga Lake, Lynn E. (Nelson, Sr.) Wadsworth of Atlanta, New York, Selene M. (George III,) Wittman of Granville and Brian J. (Marla) Perkins of Craryville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins,

Calling hours are scheduled for friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville.

Committal services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at the White Church Cemetery in Crown Point.

The family would like to thank High Peaks Hospice for the care that they provided for Carl and the support that they provided to his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY, 12832 to assist with Carl’s funeral expenses.
