Karen Smythe Opens State Senate Campaign Office In Hyde Park

(Hyde Park, NY)  Karen Smythe today officially opened her State Senate campaign office in Hyde Park. Karen was joined by local leaders and community residents as she discussed her campaign priorities and thanked the dedicated volunteers and staff who have already helped her secure record numbers of petition signatures, voter identifications, and campaign donations.

“For too long, the Hudson Valley hasn’t received its fair share of state support, investment, and education aid,” Karen Smythe said. “As a political outsider, I share my communities’ concerns about our lack of real leadership in the State Senate and the fact that we are over-taxed and under-served by Albany. That is why I am running for State Senate, and that is why I will earn my constituents’ votes this November.”

Karen Smythe discussed the need for new leadership in Albany and a new representative who will represent Hudson Valley communities and values in the State Senate. Karen highlighted issues like protecting women’s rights, achieving real tax relief, and ensuring state government provides more support and aid to Hudson Valley communities. Karen also told the dozens of local leaders and supporters that she will be a passionate and independent voice for the Hudson Valley and her constituents.

Robin Lois, Dutchess County Comptroller, said, “As a fellow political newcomer who made the move from business to public service, it excites me to see Karen Smythe stepping forward to run for the State Senate. We need fresh voices in state government, and Karen will bring a new perspective to the Senate from her successful background in business and her years of dedication to some of our community’s most beloved institutions. I am excited to endorse Karen and to work with her to ensure her victory.”

Hannah Black, Minority Leader of the Dutchess County Legislature, said, “Karen was inspired to run because she believes we can have better representation in Albany. She offers the blend of compassion, common sense and creativity that we need to move our state forward. I am proud to join so many other elected officials, advocates, unions and community members in endorsing Karen and helping her get elected to the State Senate.”

Elisa Sumner, Dutchess County Democratic Committee Chair, said, “Never has there been a more urgent need for a Democratic state senate. Never has there been a better candidate than Karen Smythe. For our economy, our environment, our personal health and the health of our nation, we need the representation of Karen Smythe. Please volunteer to help get the message out about this amazing woman!”
