Zero Emissions Parade (ZEP) and Green Vendor Fair in New Paltz

 

Saturday, September 15th, 11 am to 3 pm, Zero Emissions Parade (ZEP) and Green Vendor Fair in New Paltz

 

New Paltz, NY – On Saturday, September 15th the New Paltz Climate Action Coalition and New Paltz Climate Smart will celebrate National Drive Electric Week with a parade of pedestrians, bicycles, electric vehicles (Evs), and e-bikes.  A Green Vendor Fair at New Paltz Village Hall will follow from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, when attendees can test drive an electric car or ride in one.

Who: Ulster County Executive Michael Hein will address the crowd at 1:00 PM. Other speakers include Kathy Nolan, Ulster County Legislator and Senior Research Director for Catskill Mountainkeeper. In addition to electric cars vendors such as Healey Chevrolet, green vendors, including Green Mountain Energy and Dandelion Energy, will be on hand.

When: First annual Zero Emissions Parade, 11 AM.  Green Vendor Fair, 12 to 3 PM. Saturday September 15th.

Where: Parade, New Paltz Middle School (196 Main Street New Paltz 12561) to New Paltz Village Hall.  Fair, Village Hall (25 Plattekill Avenue, New Paltz 12561).

Why: Climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions is generating escalating catastrophic impacts. The parade and fair will encourage walking and biking, showing electric cars and other forms of transportation that don’t emit greenhouse gases. At the Fair, people can talk to EV owners informally, ask questions about charging, and test drive electric cars.

Organizers: The New Paltz Climate Action Coalition, www.newpaltzclimateaction.org, is a group of engaged individuals and organizations dedicated to addressing the causes and consequences of climate change. New Paltz Climate Smart is part of a network of New York communities https://www.dec.ny.gov/energy/56876.html/56876.html engaged in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving climate resiliency. National Drive Electric Week 2018 https://driveelectricweek.org, is sponsoring 248 celebrations from September 8 to 16, featuring plug-in electric vehicles, including events in Kingston, Poughkeepsie, and Gardiner.
