Smythe Earns New York League Of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) Endorsement

(Red Hook, NY) Karen Smythe today announced she has earned the endorsement of the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV). This endorsement follows the failing grade current Senator Sue Serino received on the NYLCV annual report card. Senator Serino earned a score of 38% from the NYLCV, which was due to her awful voting record on protecting natural resources and promoting environmental conservation. The Hudson Valley economy relies on clean water, agricultural products, and tourists to visit the many pristine landscapes.

“I appreciate the New York League of Conservation Voters endorsing my campaign and recognizing my dedication to protect our natural resources,” Karen Smythe said. “I was dismayed, together with many other voters, at how poorly Sue Serino did on protecting our environment and the resources we all rely on to live, work, and raise our families here in the Hudson Valley. Clearly, we need new leadership in Albany if we are going to ensure our natural resources are protected and used sustainably.”

Marcia Bystryn, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “Karen Smythe has been a dedicated environmentalist throughout her career. She has worked both in her community through the Beatrix Farrand Garden Association and in her professional life to spearhead many environmental initiatives. She will prioritize legislation to protect New Yorkers from hazardous waste and improve resiliency. We are proud to stand with Smythe in her election for State Senate and we urge New Yorkers in District 41 to cast their ballot for her this fall.”

The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) endorsement of Karen Smythe for the 41st Senate District was announced shortly after they issued their annual scorecard for all state officials. In this year’s report, Senator Serino received a failing grade of 38%, ranking her at the bottom of the State Legislature on this critical issue.
