Poughquag man arrested for Vehicular Manslaughter

On August 11, 2018,  at approximately 1:00pm the New York State Police responded to Interstate 90 in the Town of East Greenbush for a reported three car motor vehicle accident.

The initial investigation at the scene revealed 23-year-old August Rice from Rexford, NY, was traveling eastbound on I-90 when he struck a vehicle causing it to cross the median and into the westbound lanes where it was subsequently struck by Rex Tucker-Moss, a 41-year-old man from Poughquag, NY.

The driver of vehicle that was struck in both the eastbound and westbound lanes was killed. It was further determined at the scene that both Rice and Tucker-Moss were intoxicated and that Tucker-Moss was operating intoxicated with two children, ages ten and seven in the car.

Rice was arrested for Vehicular Manslaughter in the second degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Moving from the lane unsafely. He was arraigned in the Town of East Greenbush Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or bail bond and set to re-appear at a later date.

Tucker-Moss was arrested for Vehicular Manslaughter in the second degree, two counts of Aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Tucker-Moss was arraigned in the Town of East Greenbush Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or bail bond and set to re-appear at a later date.

The victim’s name is not being released pending notification to family members.
