Verplanck resident charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident

PRESS RELEASE

Town of Cortlandt, New York — On August 1st, 2018, the New York State Police, Troop K, SP Cortlandt Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI), arrested Stephen J. Candelaria, age 24, a Verplanck resident, for one count of Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On July 17, 2018, at approximately 6:28 p.m., Candelaria reported to SP Cortlandt that his 2009 Mazda RX8 was stolen from 7th Street in Verplanck, NY.  An investigation into the alleged stolen vehicle determined that the allegations made by Candelaria were false and Candelaria was ultimately arrested.

Candelaria was processed without incident and was issued an Appearance Ticket directing him to appear before the Town of Cortlandt Court on the 9th day of August 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
