Active Shooter/Stop the Bleed Training

Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson along with the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health and the Town of Clinton announces a citizen active shooter awareness class.

This class will be two-hours in length and will be broken down into two parts. The first part of the class will be taught by a member of the Sheriff’s Office and will focus on the general “dos and don’ts” should you or someone else be confronted with an active shooter. The second part will be taught by the Medical Reserve Corps of Dutchess County and will focus on steps you can take if you or someone else become injured and are not accessible to emergency services (referred to as “Stop the Bleed”). The class is scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Town of Clinton Town Hall, 1215 Centre Road, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.

This class is geared towards increasing awareness about what to do if you are confronted with an active shooter-type situation and is meant to provide general guidance on what can be done to give you and those around you the best chance of survival until help arrives. This class is in no way meant to train someone to handle an active shooter situation themselves or take any action which would be best performed by trained law enforcement and medical personnel.

This class is open to the public. Members of any organization, agency, corporation, business, municipality, religious organization or educational institution are encouraged to attend.
