The Pawling Resource Center is in Need of School Supplies

By Susan Stone

As we all enjoy the freedom that long lazy days of Summer bring, the Pawling Resource Center is looking ahead to September when children will be returning to school. Many students in our community are in need of some assistance with essential school supplies and, as in years past, the PRC is making sure that all children are able to begin the new school year prepared with all they need for a successful start.

Terry Ariano, Resource Center Director, has indicated that “to be most helpful, we will be stuffing the packs the week of August 13th, so we would like to have the supplies by the end of the previous week, by August 11.” Ms. Ariano has already received 48 backpacks that have been donated by the Pawling Rotary Club. Last year, the PRC gave away more than 60 backpacks stuffed with grade-appropriate supplies to community children in need.

Ms. Ariano has shared the following list of necessary school supplies. Donations may be brought to the Resource Center at 126 East Main Street during regular business hours, Monday – Friday: 10 am to 4 pm. Saturday: 10 am to 3 pm.

The following is a list of needed items:

Backpacks (no wheels please) ; 1 1/1” & 2” binders; jumbo, Book Socks; Crayons & Colored pencils; Five-tab Dividers; Pink Bevel Erasers; Heavy duty Pocket Folders; Glue Sticks; Index cards, 3×5 lined; Crayola Thick-tip Markers; Thick & Thin Dry Erase Markers; Highlighters; Marble Composition and Spiral Notebooks; heavy duty clear Page protectors; loose leaf Paper; Pens, red, blue, black (erasable if possible, no gel pens); Pencils, #2 Ticonderoga; Plastic 5×8” Pencil Boxes; Zippered 3-hole Pencil pouches; hand-held Pencil sharpeners, Staplers, and boxes of Tissues.
