Kendall Salutes Veterans with Return the FAVOR Card

Poughkeepsie, NY – With 2018 designated as “Year of the Veteran,” Dutchess County Clerk Bradford H. Kendall encourages Dutchess County veterans to enroll in the Return the FAVOR discount program. To date over 4,000 veterans have registered in the Return the FAVOR program which can be used at over 250 participating businesses and merchants who have agreed to honor cardholders with discounted purchases or services.  Additionally, the card can be used for 1 hour free parking in the parking lot adjacent to the County Office Building, 22 Market Street, Poughkeepsie.

Honorably discharged veterans residing in Dutchess County may obtain their FAVOR card by bringing their Military Separation Papers i.e. DD-214, WDO-AGO 53-55, etc., indicating your Full-Time Active Duty service to the Division of Veterans Services Office, located at 85 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 105 in Poughkeepsie between 9am and 4pm.  Once verified, proceed to the County Clerk’s Office located on the 1st Floor of 22 Market St and press the “J” category at the customer service booth to be issued a FAVOR card.

“The County Clerk’s Office continues our effort to recognize the service and sacrifice made by Dutchess County veterans through this important program,” stated Kendall.  “We are pleased to work with the county Division of Veterans Services to provide a convenient and safe location for veterans DD-214’s on file here in the County Clerk’s Office,” he added.

For the veteran, filing discharge papers is free of charge and certified complimentary copies of recorded discharges are made for veterans or their immediate families whenever needed. Original discharge papers are proof of military service and can be used to establish eligibility for a variety of benefits including property tax exemptions and civil service credits.
