Obituary, Irene Rozek

 

Fishkill – Irene Rozek of Fishkill passed away on June 14, 2018, at the age of 91. Originally from Rye, New York the majority of her life was lived in Fishkill, New York. She graduated Berkley College and was co-owner of the Tiny Tots Day Nursery in Portchester. She was a professional still life artist and owned Rozek Art Gallery in Pawling, New York.

Mrs. Rozek was a world traveler and had visited Japan, Scandinavia, and Europe. She also was an avid doll collector. She made her debut at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City during the blizzard of 1947.

Mrs. Rozek was president of the Republican Club of Yonkers and more recently president of both the Glenham Senior Citizen’s and Fishkill Senior Citizen’s Clubs. She was a member of the Van Wyck Museum.

Born August 5, 1926, in Rye, New York she was the daughter of Stephanie Cwik and Stephen Mossakawski, predeceased. On June 8, 1952, she married Mitchell Rozek of New York City. Mr. Rozek passed on July 10, 1975.

Mrs. Rozek is survived by her son, David Stephan Rozek and his wife Louanne Wirth of Marietta, Ga. Her parents and a sister, Eugenia Herbst of Saratoga Springs and a niece Christina predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a nephew, Robert Herbst.

Mrs. Rozek is survived by a niece, Jeanne Bly of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; nephew, John Rozek, New York City; nieces Gigi and Dorothy Foster of Saratoga Springs; Elena York, Newington, Connecticut; Gwen Kelly, East Harwich, Massachusetts; and Phyliss Yusko, West Hampton, New York.

Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Rye, New York took place on June 21.
