Pawling Library Receives Bullet Aid Grant

The Pawling Library will receive a $5,000 grant from the State of New York, thanks to the support of State Senator Terrence Murphy. The grant money has been earmarked for new computers at the library.  In response to a 69% increase in computer use over the previous year, Library Director Brian Avery will use the grant to subsidize the creation of a computer area for teens.

“We are looking forward to expanding our computer capacity and enclosing a dedicated teen space,” says Avery. “We have had more young adults than ever using the library, and our computer use has skyrocketed in the last year and a half. Being able to build a dedicated teen space with new computers will be a great way to address both of these trends and to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to serving the Pawling community.”

Senator Murphy has been a staunch supporter of the Pawling Library, securing Bullet Aid Grants annually for children and teen programming, as well as technology upgrades.  Avery added, “We take [this] to be a vote of confidence in the work that we do and in our continued vision for the appropriate use of public funds to support our mission.”
