The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival is coming this August

This August Warwick will again be the center of the 9th year of The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival ( hudsonvalleyjazzfest.org).
Originally founded as the Warwick Valley Jazz Festival, the series has engulfed other regions of the valley over the years including but not limited to, Peekskill, Kingston, New Paltz, Palling, Chester, SugarLoaf, Washingtonville, Pine Island, Greenwood Lake and Westchester.

In 2013 The NY Times dropped by and covered it. NY Times Coverage

It’s mission different from the many nationwide festivals, to feature local talent in a myriad of settings, celebrating jazz and the valley’s deep resource of artists.

Name artists such as Dave Liebman, Arturo O’farrell, Lenny White, Buster Williams, John Abercrombie and Wallace Roney have been part of the series, but it’s ongoing path is local.

This year the dates are Aug 9 – 12, with opening night on Railroad Ave and The Mulder Chapel, both in Warwick. Two park performances including a Saturday afternoon made possible by The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, on Aug 11.

A complete schedule which may shift to include additional shows can be found at the site.

From house concerts to theaters, restaurants. parks, cafes, and libraries, there’s a show and setting to please everyone. Big bands, vocalists, be-bop, improv, cool jazz and in between.
