Annual Boy Scout Food Drive at The PRC A Big Success!

Pawling Boy Scout Troop 34 performed their annual magic by soliciting and collecting bags of food from Pawling village residents for the Pawling Resource Center food pantry. On April 7 the scouts placed bags on residents’ stoops with an explanation of the project and recommending types of foods to donate. On April 14th the boys returned and picked up the filled bags and brought them to the PRC. There the sorting, date-checking and shelving process required all hands on deck, until all the food was shelved.
Scout troop leader Maura Kemmer reported that scouts Tyler Kemmer, Dalton Woodin, Joseph Scott, Wesley Johnson, Riley Hausen, and Charlie Krajeski participated in the drive this year. Parent volunteers included Maura Kemmer, Michael Kemmer, Chrissy Woodin, Monica Hausen, Pete Quartironi, Tom Johnson, Trish Johnson and PRC volunteers Bette Slocum, Yajaira Garcia, Holly Oths and Christine also helped out. This year the scouts collected 2971 pounds of donated food items! “This annual event really helps keep our food pantry filled with lots of nutritious choices of canned foods, pastas and tomato sauce, tuna, cereals, and many other necessities – it gives people a wide range of choice in their visit to the pantry.” Observed PRC director Terry Ariano. The Pawling residents once again showed their generosity in contributing to this awesome event, and the scouts were tireless in collecting and sorting the food – thanks to all who participated!
