Vegetables are growing at the Pawling Library

By Kate Lambert

The Pawling Library has a brand new vegetable garden, which is being grown and tended by teens in the gardening club, which meets weekly. Sugar snap peas, lettuce, cucumbers, and marigolds are sprouting in raised garden beds, and tomato and green pepper plants are growing indoors, waiting to be transplanted. Not everything in the garden has been started from seed. The teens also transplanted strawberries, mint, basil, cilantro, and dill. Garden club will continue to meet throughout the spring and summer, and the teens will be able to take vegetables and herbs home with them when they are ready to harvest.
