More Than 1,100 Students Graduate

 

May 18, 2018 – Dutchess Community College held its annual graduation ceremony May 17. Associate degrees and career certificates in 45 programs of study were conferred on 1,114 graduates, who ranged in age from 18 to 68. The graduation ceremony was held at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center with almost 4,000 in attendance.

Associate in Science degrees were awarded to 63 percent of the students; 16 percent received Associate in Arts degrees; 15 percent received Associate in Applied Science degrees; and 6 percent earned certificates.

Speakers included DCC President Pamela Edington, Ed.D., DCC Board of Trustees Chair Thomas LeGrand, County Executive and DCC alum Marcus Molinaro, Dutchess County Legislature Chair Gregg Pulver and City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison. Allyn Washington, one of the College’s founding faculty members, was a special guest.

At a May 17 Honors Convocation, 160 students either starting their second year at DCC or graduating and entering four-year colleges in the fall, were recognized for outstanding achievements and received scholarships totaling more than $150,000. More than $1.6 million in scholarships has been awarded by the DCC Foundation in the Convocation ceremonies since they began over 20 years ago. The scholarships are funded by individuals and organizations to reward academic excellence.
