Obituary, Elaine Hurlie

 

STORMVILLE – Elaine E. ‘Dynamite’ Hurlie, 96, died on May 13, 2018, at Waterview Hills in Purdys. She previously lived in Mount Vernon.

Born in Mount Vernon on April 13, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Swink) Erickson. Elaine retired in 1978 from the City of Mount Vernon where she was Deputy Court Clerk. She was a member of the Stormville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

On August 19, 1942 in Mount Vernon, she married Douglas C. Hurlie who predeceased her in 1985. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Elaine Gail and Thomas Cirrincione of Stormville, Douglas and Lorraine Hurlie of Mahopac, and Kenneth and Joanne Hurlie of Fishkill; her grandchildren and their spouses, Thomas and Kristine Cirrincione, Tara and Dan Asher, Jasen and Eileen Hurlie, Deren and Lauren Hurlie, and Jeffrey Hurlie; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Tori, Ryan and Jacob, Madison, Hunter, and Makenzie, and Rayden; her loving nephew and his wife, Donald and Barbara Whitney; her dear friend, Elizabeth Smerdon; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was also predeceased by her twin sister, Ruth Gesner; and other siblings, Helen Whitney, Catherine Fulton, and Charles Erickson.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at  895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by the funeral service at 8 pm. Burial at Hopewell Cemetery will be private.
