Pawling’s “Music By The Lake” Announces 2018 Free Summer Concert Schedule

2018 marks the 13th year of Pawling’s “Music By The Lake” free summer concerts, presented since 2006 by the Pawling Recreation Department. This season we have 4 concerts featuring top-notch bands – some old favorites and some new bands as well.

July 14 – “Back To The Garden 1969”  We are pleased to welcome back our friends “Back To The Garden 1969” to kick off our 13th season. A favorite of Pawling concert-goers, the band will once again be bringing “The Woodstock Experience” to Lakeside Park.  “Back To The Garden 1969”performs a wide variety of classic songs associated with Woodstock, and the musical performances are a tribute to the artists who made Woodstock great, and are authentically performed in the style of those artists.

July 28 – “Fat City Rockers”  What do you get when you mix rockabilly with surf music and throw in some rocking blues? You get “Fat City Rockers”, of course! Making their first appearance at “Music By The Lake”, “Fat City Rockers” is a high-energy, three-piece group who have been rocking and swinging the tri-state area for years. Covering tunes by artists such as The Stray Cats, Brian Setzer, Bo Diddley, The Ventures, The Shadows, Bill Haley & The Comets, Elvis, Eddie Cochran, The Coasters, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others, the band appeals to a wide age group. Their mission is to play songs that the older generations haven’t heard in years, while also introducing younger listeners to this awesome music.

August 11 – “Bruce Katz Band” Led by award-winning composer/performer Bruce Katz on organ and piano, this trio of highly talented (some might say virtuoso) musicians also features gifted guitarist and New York Blues Hall Of Fame inductee Chris Vitarello, and drummer Ray Hangen, who began his professional career at the early age of seventeen and hits a hard and hot beat as steady as it grooves. Katz’s music occupies a unique space where blues, “soul-jazz”, jam-band rock and all aspects of Americana Music collide into a style of original music all his own.

Finally, on August 25, The Greyhoundswill close the Music By The Lake 2018 concert season. “The Greyhounds” play straight-ahead roots rock‘n’roll in its purest form, blending rockabilly and rhythm & blues with the twang of classic country and the drive of 60’s beat (and some instrumentals as well). Their performances are always a blast and will no doubt have you up on your feet dancing!!

Admission to all concerts is FREE! The concerts will take place on Saturday nights from 6 to 8 pm at Lakeside Park. Concerts will be held rain or shine – if the weather is bad, concerts will be held indoors in the Lathrop building at Lakeside Park.

So bring your picnic baskets, blankets, and folding chairs and enjoy great performances at “Music By The Lake 2018”!
