New York City Man Arrested for Selling Heroin in Putnam County

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of Jassell Franco, 24, of New York City on heroin-related sales charges.

In April of 2018, a deputy assigned to the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) developed information that the defendant was involved in the sale of heroin within the county. The deputy was able to contact the subject and arrange for the purchase of 150 bags of heroin. On the night of April 6, 2018, members of the NEU took Mr. Franco into custody during a drug transaction, in the Applebee’s Parking lot on Independent Way in the Town of Southeast.

Franco, of 711 West 190 Street, Manhattan, New York was charged with (1) one Felony count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and (1) one Felony count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

Franco was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Timothy Curtis of the Town of Kent Justice Court and committed to the Putnam County Correctional facility on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
