State Police investigate fatal motor vehicle crash in Wappinger

Wappinger, New York – The New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on State Route 9D near Stonykill Road in the town of Wappinger on April 17, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m.

Initial investigation suggests vehicle one, a 2008 Nissan Sentra, was southbound just south of Stonykill Road.  Vehicle one for unknown reasons failed to maintain its lane and exited the roadway onto the west shoulder.  The operator, and sole occupant, Amilcar De Martinez Palma, age 25, of Poughkeepsie, NY, overcorrected, lost control and struck a utility pole.  De Martinez Palma was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency medical personnel.

The New York State Police were assisted on scene by Chelsea Fire Department, EMStar, and Central Hudson Gas and Electric.
