On April 10, 2018, members of the New York State Police and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office were recognized for saving a resident’s life at the New Lebanon Town Hall.

Troopers William T. Vick, Benjamin S. Hayes, Jason A. Christie, along with Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Investigator (then Deputy) Ian Boehme were awarded, and accepted Certificates of Appreciation from Town Supervisor Colleen Teal and resident Mr. Barry Chuck.

Mr. Chuck, who co-presented the awards, was the man whose life was saved by the actions of the Troopers and now Investigator.

On February 9, 2018, these members utilized an automated external defibrillator (AED), then performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for 10 minutes awaiting the arrival of emergency medical services.  Chatham Rescue then transported Mr. Chuck to Albany Medical Center where he later recovered.

Recognition awards from the public are always deeply appreciated; however, this ceremony had greater meaning to the recipients, with Mr. Chuck there to present, along with representatives of the town of New Lebanon, and the citizens of Columbia County.  We will continue to proudly serve them.
