Check on disabled vehicle leads to gun and drug charges

PRESS RELEASE

On March 20, 2018, New York State Police in Haverstraw, responding to a report of a disabled vehicle on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Stony Point, found an armed subject asleep at the wheel.

Matthew Pate, 38 of Old Town, FL was found in possession of a loaded handgun when approached by Troopers. He was taken into custody and further found to possess methamphetamine along with equipment and material used to manufacture methamphetamine.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon second degree, (felony) Criminal Possession of Precursors of Methamphetamine (felony), Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine third degree (felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) seventh degree.(misdemeanor)

Matthew Pate was arraigned in the town of Stony Point Court. He was remanded to Rockland County Jail on $40,000.00 bail.
