Afternoon Friendraiser to Support Local Dutchess County Music Groups

Hyde Park, NY – MusicLink Scholarship Fund of the Dutchess Community College Music School (DCC) and the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra (NDSO) will host an afternoon of music and refreshments at their Friendraiser “Duets with Friends” April 22 from 2-5 p.m. at the Caterina de’ Medici Restaurant at The Culinary Institute of America.

The event will launch NDSO’s new Friends Group and share how both DCC MusicLink and NDSO programs are influencing music and music education in the Hudson Valley. It will feature duets played by NDSO musicians and MusicLink students.

“This Friendraiser will be an afternoon of duets in many forms: a duet between NDSO and DCC MusicLink Scholarship, duets between talented MusicLink student musicians and professional musicians, and ultimately, the start of a duet between NDSO and our exciting new friends group,” said Laura Doe, event co-chair and director of The Music School at DCC.

The event will include Argentinian and Spanish inspired hors-d’oeuvres, desserts, and locally produced wine and beer, a silent auction, and music-themed trivia and games.

Additionally, a special tour of the Culinary campus focusing on its history and architecture will be offered.

Tickets are $60 per person and are available at www.ndsorchestra.org or by calling (845) 635-0877.  Space is limited. Visit www.ndsorchestra.org for more information.

The MusicLink Scholarship Fund, managed by the DCC Foundation, provides scholarships to music students in the surrounding community ages 18 and under, who come from families without great means and show a strong commitment to musical excellence. The DCC Music School is committed to providing scholarships for these talented students until they graduate from high school.

The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra was formed in 2006 to bring live orchestral music to northern Dutchess County and the surrounding Hudson Valley area. Now in its 12th season, the orchestra offers the best possible live performances of classical music at family-affordable prices.
