Obituary, Michelina “Mickey” Penasso

 

 

Michelina “Mickey” (Calabrese) PenaPenascoed 93, passed away on March 13th, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Nancy Dellutri Calabrese. She was predeceased by her husband Hugo Penasso and son Michael Penasso. She is survived by her beloved daughter Ardas Khalsa (formerly Nancy Penasso), grandsons Stephen “Ryan” Fryer, Gabriel and Etaja Penasso, granddaughter Terra Lucido, brother William Calabrese and his wife Myrna and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mickey was a loving, kind, giving family member, friend and, a neighbor who enjoyed life and people. A resident of Ardsley, NY, Mickey contributed to the U.S. WWII war effort as a ship welder. She was an avid gardener at her summer home in Pine Plains, NY. For years she was the school crossing guard at the intersection of Heatherdell and Concord Roads in Ardsley before her retirement. She was vibrant and full of life. She attributed her long life and good health to working in her garden, eating its produce, eating mostly organic foods and a Mediterranean diet, years of swimming at Stissing Lake in Pine Plains and practicing homeopathy.

Due to recent health issues she, moved to Tucson, Arizona to be cared for by her daughter. She passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
