Because of the recent storms which resulted in school closings, the following days are now INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS:  April 3April 4April 5April 6 and May 25. Spring Recess days are now March 30 and April 2.
 
There is still time to register for many Continuing Ed Spring classes.  Photography classes will begin Wednesday, March 21 and Defensive Driving is March 26 & 27.  Other great classes available too. For more information visit the Continuing Ed webpage.
 
The 2018-2019 School Year Calendar at-a-glance is now posted on our website!
The March 13 Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 20, 7:30pm in the CHS Library.  Because of this, the Budget Q&A originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 has been canceled.  NOTE: Depending upon predicted weather conditions forecast for Tuesday, March 20, the Board of Education Meeting may be rescheduled to Monday, March 19 (same time/location). Final determination will be posted on our website on Monday morning.
Requests for private/parochial school and/or childcare transportation for the 2018-2019 school year are due no later than April 1, 2018. Requests must be in writing. Applications are available on our website under Departments>Transportation
Nomination packets for prospective Board of Education candidates are now available!This year, two seats will be up for election (currently held by Richard Kreps and Michelle Yorio). Term of office is three years, from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age and have been a resident of the District for at least one year prior to the election. The election (and budget vote) takes place on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. If interested, please contact me at sdieck@carmelschools.org Deadline for petitions is Monday, April 16, 2018 by 5:00pm.

MPESPTO, KPSPTO and KEPTO are hosting the Color-A-Thon color run together again this year. It’s fun for the whole family and raises money for your PTO. Every child must have a paid adult entering the race with them. Staff from all schools participate in tossing color on the kids during the run! More information and a sponsorship packet will come home soon in your child’s backpack.

CHS students are invited to attend the Putnam County Youth Forum onTuesday, April 17This is a day-long educational program organized by and designed for Putnam County high school students. Students will attend workshops, facilitated by professionals on issues such as healthy lifestyles, internet and technology, law and order in the community, how to survive college, teen addictions and much more. Transportation to and from will be provided. If your child would like to attend, return the Parent/Guardian Permission Slip and workshop selection form to Mrs. Kershaw at CHS by March 23.

CALENDAR CHANGE:  Modified sports will begin on Monday, March 26 with a meeting in the GFMS gym from 2:30-3pm.
 
The Annual Family Fun Night (sponsored by the GFMS G.O. and the PTA) isFriday, March 23 at 7pm in the GFMS Gymnasium. Come and watch the students from the GFMS Basketball teams play with 5/6 and 7/8 grade teachers in a fun-filled basketball game. Tickets are $5/pp and will be sold at the door. Students should be accompanied by an adult, as this is not a drop off event. Spirit week with special themed days will lead up to Friday.  Here is the Spirit week schedule:

GFMS and American Heart Association Walk for Heart Event takes place during the week of April 9-13 during Physical Education classes. Join Jax and the Scare Squad in the school’s efforts to raise healthy heart awareness and support the American Heart Association.
