Bronx man arrested for stealing iPhones with fake identity

Cortlandt, New York – On March 9, 2018, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Richard Diaz, age 23, of Bronx, NY, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd degree, and Identity Theft in the 1st degree, all class D felonies.

On March 6, 2018, Troopers received a complaint of larceny from Walmart on Main Street in the town of Cortlandt.  An investigation discovered Diaz opened a line of credit utilizing a fake identification card, and an assumed identity to purchase three iPhone X cellular devices.  Diaz visited Walmart on March 9, 2018, attempting to obtain a fourth phone, and was subsequently arrested.

Diaz was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $7,500 bond.
