PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police in Haverstraw are investigating a fatal automobile accident on State Route 6 in the town of Woodbury.

At approximately 1:10 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, a 2017 Hyundai being operated by Loreal Maldinaldo, 28 of Ozone Park, NY was west on St-6 approximately a mile west of the Long Mountain Circle when it crossed the double yellow line striking an eastbound 2017 Ford Van head on.  A 2008 Chevrolet traveling west struck the van as it came to a stop in the westbound lane.  The Hyundai caught fire and passersby removed the three occupants of the vehicle before the fire spread.  Maldinaldo was pronounced dead at the scene and two passengers in her vehicle, a 13-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, were transported to Westchester County Medical Center where they are both listed in critical condition.  The Van’s driver, Nickelson Moreau, 36, of Nanuet, NY and his passenger were taken to Orange Regional Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries and released.  Nobody in the Chevrolet was injured in the crash.

St-6 was closed for four hours and traffic was diverted to St-293, St-9W and the Palisades Interstate Parkway.
