Dutchess County Commission on Human Rights Hosts
100 Cups of Coffee Event on March 13th

“Let There Be Light: Porch Lights in Poughkeepsie”

Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Commission on Human Rights kicks off the 2018 100 Cups of Coffee Transformative Dialogue Project series on Tuesday, March 13th with “Let There Be Light: Porch Lights in Poughkeepsie” at the Family Partnership Center at 29 N. Hamilton Street in the City of Poughkeepsie. The event will focus on increasing safety and sending a welcoming message through lights. The event flyer can be viewed at dutchessny.gov.

100 Cups of Coffee events are held in partnership with the Northern Dutchess NAACP and the Dutchess County Interfaith Council. The events are an opportunity for all members of the community to come together and talk over coffee and tea to find ways to build on Poughkeepsie’s strengths as a kind, safe and connected city.

Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro said, “Our 100 Cups of Coffee events have been very well-received and we are thrilled to kick off the 2018 event series. ‘Let There Be Light: Porch Lights in Poughkeepsie” is inspired by conversation at a past event when the suggestion was made that the simple act of turning on the porch light promotes a welcoming message and helps make a safer environment. We are excited to build on this conversation and find more ways to increase safety and light up Poughkeepsie.”

There are several 100 Cups of Coffee events scheduled for 2018 at the Family Partnership Center including:

  • May 8th                     What do You Know: Discovering Poughkeepsie’s Parks
  • July 10th                    A Talk in the Park: 100 Cups of Coffee at Earline Patrice Park
  • September 11th         100 Cups of Coffee: Making a Difference in Poughkeepsie
  • November 13th          Be the Light
