Traffic stop turns up loaded handgun

On Sunday evening, January 21, 2018, Troopers from the Middletown barracks were patrolling State Route 17 and stopped a red Chrysler for traffic infractions.  The driver was identified as Troy Pittman, age 37 of Woodridge, NY.  During the stop, troopers found him to be in possession of a half ounce of marijuana.  Further investigation revealed that Pittman was in possession of a loaded Lorcin .380 caliber pistol.

Pittman was placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, a felony and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. He was arraigned in the Town of Wallkill Court and remanded to Orange County Jail with no bail set.
