Obituary, Harry Schultz

Harry Schultz, a long-time Pawling area resident, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at The Grand at the age of 93.

Born in Astoria, NY on November 26, 1924, Harry graduated from Pawling High School in 1942, playing baseball on the high school team as shortstop, and batting clean-up.  After high school, Harry proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII.

After the war, Harry owned and operated the Holmes Garage, where he was an auto mechanic until he sold the business in 1974.  He then worked as a mechanic at Britton’s Service Station at the current location of The Family Quick Stop in Pawling.  After he retired, he delivered laundry for Pawling Laundry.

Harry is predeceased by his parents, August and Helen (Peterson) Schultz.

A funeral service for Harry will be conducted on Friday, January 12th at 9:30 AM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.  The funeral home will be open at 8:30 AM for friends who wish to pay their respects.  The Honorable Robert Liffland will then conduct the service at 9:30.

Burial will take place in the Spring at Whaley Lake Cemetery, Holmes, NY with military honors.

At Harry’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hasler-Kamp Post American Legion, Pawling, NY 12564.
