On January 9th, at about 2:40 AM, K-9 Deputy Vincent M. Dallo and Sgt. Timothy C. Keith responded to the area of the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of East Fishkill to assist members of the New York State Police locating a subject who fled into the woods.

Troopers on patrol came upon a single vehicle, property damage auto accident involving a 2002 Black Lexus with New York plates. The car was in a ditch in the northbound lane of the Taconic Parkway.

Members of the State Police observed a male, later identified as Mark Anthony Cahill, age 30 of Fishkill, New York, fleeing across both lanes of the parkway, cross over the southbound lane and into the woods. Troopers gave chase and lost the subject at the intersection of Hortontown Heights Road and Hortontown Road. Deputy Gallo retrieved his K-9 partner, Lex and began searching the area, starting at the wood line, along with Sgt. Keith. K-9 Lex tracked along power lines and onto Hortontown Heights Road. K-9 Lex continued to track north on Hortontown Road for approximately one mile, before stopping at a private residence. In the driveway of the home were two parked cars. K-9 Lex lead deputies to the vehicles where fresh footprints were observed in the snow.

Sgt. Keith approached the vehicle and observed Mr. Cahill attempting to conceal himself inside the vehicle. He complied with an order to exit the car. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The deputies notified members of the State Police and Mr. Cahill was identified as the person fleeing from the scene of the accident.

State Police charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
