Obituary, Jean Mary (Hollands) Lewis

 

Jean Mary (Hollands) Lewis, 91, formerly of Newtown, widow of the late Bill Lewis, died peacefully December 28 at Candlewood Valley Care Center in New Milford. She was born October 29, 1926, in Busselton, Australia, and was one of nine children to Annie and Ernest Hollands.

Mrs Lewis immigrated to the United States with her infant daughter in April 1946 to join her husband, Bill, who was a US Navy sailor. They lived in Newtown until their retirement, when they lived in Melbourne, Fla., and Dover Plains, N.Y.

Her daughter, Sandra Phillips of New Milford; her son, James Lewis of Sumner, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Dorian Lewis of Chestertown, Md.; her brother, Ron Hollands of Busselton, Australia; her six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews survive her.

Her son, Bill Lewis, predeceased her.

Calling hours with be at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, on Saturday, January 6, from 3 to 6 pm. A service will be conducted during calling hours at 5:30 pm at the funeral home. A spring burial will take place in Newtown.
