URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Albany NY 330 AM EST Mon Dec 25 2017 330 AM EST Mon Dec 25 2017 ...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 6 PM EST THIS EVENING... * Location...The Mohawk Valley, Greater Capital Region, Lake George Saratoga Region, eastern Catskills, Schoharie Valley, Helderbergs, Mid Hudson Valley, and Taconics of eastern New York, as well as southern Vermont, the Berkshires of Massachusetts, and Litchfield County Connecticut. * Winds...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph. * TIMING...Late this morning into the early evening. * IMPACTS...Some downed trees, tree limbs and power lines. Isolated to scattered power outages are expected. Significant blowing and drifting of snow causing difficult travel conditions. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph are expected, with gusts between 46 to 57 mph. Winds this strong are capable of downing small tree limbs and branches, possibly causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
