State Police investigate suspicious package at Plattekill Post Office

PRESS RELEASE

 

At 2:15 p.m. today, December 12, 2017, State Police in Highland along with the Plattekill Police Department and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Plattekill Post Office for a report of a suspicious package. During the course of the investigation the Plattekill Post Office was evacuated and Plattekill Elementary School was placed in lockdown.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the package was not a threat to any persons or the surrounding community and the lockdown at Plattekill Elementary was lifted.

Law enforcement agencies were assisted by the Plattekill Fire Department and the Cronomer Valley Fire Department.
