State Police arrest Brooklyn man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon

On December 2, 2017, at 8:15 pm, SP Liberty UF Patrols received a 911 call for shots fired at 1040 Sackett Lake Road, Town of Thompson.  Upon arrival, Troopers located two men, MOISHE ASHKENAZY, 22 of Brooklyn, NY and an uninvolved male friend inside the bungalow colony. An AR 15 rifle, along with 3 -15 round magazines , 1-10 round magazine and one Truglo scope contained in black case, were found under a bungalow by the Troopers.  ASHKENAZY admitted to ownership of the AR 15 and accessories as well as being the one who shot the AR.

MOISHE ASHKENAZY was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree and Environmental Conservation laws for firing 55 rounds of .223 ammunition from 15 round magazines out of an unregistered AR 15. The shots were fired from a bungalow colony towards a residential area where ASHKENAZY knew people to be living.

ASHKENAZY was arraigned in the Town of Forestburgh Court before Town Justice Carroll.  ASHKENAZY was remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $2,500 bond.  ASHKENAZY was ordered to reappear in the Town of Forestburgh Court on December 4, 2017 at 5:00 pm before Town Justice Carroll.
