Obituary, Lindsay Lane Whitcomb

 

Yonkers – Lindsay Lane Whitcomb, beloved wife of Robert J. D’Urso, Sr. (Bob) and mother to Nathan Connolly and Dr. Heather Connolly and step-mother to Jeneen D’Urso, passed away in the privacy of her home on Tuesday December 5, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family and by her husband, Bob, the love of her life. She fought bravely and with grace for over two years against glioblastoma. Lindsay was generous of spirit, open hearted and deeply loved her family. She was a retired Manager of Health Information Delivery at March of Dimes where she provided health advocacy and resources to pregnant mothers for over 16 years. She was an avid gardener, lover of art, pottery, music and travel. Most of all she loved spending time with family. Born April 29, 1951 in NYC to Nancy Adams (nee Thomas) and Arthur B. Whitcomb she spent her childhood in Darien, CT, Winnetka, IL, Miami, FL and Pawling, NY. She is a graduate of Abbott Academy, Andover, MA; earned a BA at Wells College, Aurora, NY; and a Master of Health Advocacy from Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, NY. Lindsay is survived by her mother, Nancy; her husband, Bob; her children, Nathan of Bend, OR (daughter-in-law Patricia Chalmers Connolly) and Heather of Montpelier, VT; her step-daughter, Jeneen of Fairfax, VA; as well as grandchildren Sophia and Alyce Jerome, Arthur Liam Connolly, Matthew and Jessica Cohen; and siblings, Michael Whitcomb, Bruce Whitcomb, Glenny Whitcomb, Tay Espinosa, Abby Adams, Mary Whitcomb, Arthur B. Whitcomb, Jr. There will be a viewing at McGrath and Son, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. Calling hours: 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Saturday, December 9, 2017 and 1-3 pm Sunday, December 10, 2017.
