Lagrange resident arrested for making terroristic threat

Lagrange, New York – On December 8, 2017, the New York State Police arrested Nicholas J. Cioce, age 17, of Lagrange, NY, for Making a Terroristic Threat, a class D felony.

On December 7, United States Customs and Border Protection located a threatening tweet that made reference to carrying out a shooting at a high school and subsequently notified the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police worked jointly to identify and locate the author of the tweeted threat which stated “Guys 50 retweets and I’ll shoot up my high school…” The threat impacted the local community as word spread into other neighboring school districts.

Cioce was taken into custody without incident and subsequently arraigned before the town of Lagrange Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
